I was reminded of an old Italian Wedding tradition recently after attending my nephews wedding and thought I would pass this on. Each guest received a gift of five sugar coated almonds with a note attached.

The note on this Italian wedding tradition said:  “Five sugared almonds for each guest to  eat, to remind us that life is both bitter and sweet. Five almonds represent five wishes for the new bride and groom–health, wealth, happiness, children and a long life!”
